Jomar was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico and raised in the one square mile town of West New York, New Jersey. I grew up 15 minutes away from Jomar in Englewood, New Jersey, where I was born to two Haitian immigrants. We both were raised in an environment of meager means, but we benefited from witnessing the thoroughbred work ethic of parents that were willing to sacrifice so their children could have better opportunities.
Though Jomar and I grew up so close to each other, we didn’t meet until college. Our paths crossed at Kean College, in Union, New Jersey, in August of 1999. We made the leap from friends to spouses in January of 2003. And our family has since grown to include five biological children and two unofficially adopted children.
Jomar left a career in social work in 2004 to work out of the home and invest in our children. She has faithfully been homeschooling our children since 2013. As a tactician in character development and crisis management, Jomar has done a phenomenal job in raising wonderful children.
I served in the Marine Corps for seven years before being medically discharged in 2007. After getting out of the Marine Corps, I made my way into the communications field where I worked for public and private organizations.
Prior to launching Delight-Full Custards, I served as a vocational pastor for the past five years. It was a joy to preach, teach and shepherd people to know God and live for him. And while leaving that role wasn’t easy, I am completely convinced that this is the time to pursue the dream Jomar spoke of back in March of 2018.
